The course and the learning outcome

Enterprise risk management (ERM) in business includes the methods and processes used by organisations to manage external and internal risks and seize opportunities related to the achievement of their objectives.

ERM provides a framework for risk management assessing them in terms of likelihood and magnitude of impact, determining a response strategy, and monitoring progress.

By identifying and proactively addressing risks and opportunities, business enterprises protect and create value for their stakeholders, including owners, employees, customers, regulators, and society overall. 

This 2 day intensive and highly practical program will give you a thorough grounding in the methodologies behind enterprise-wide risk management. We learn:

  • The ERM framework of risk management and developing an appropriate structure
  • Understanding enterprise risk as an opportunity or threat
  • Overview of risk and types of risk
  • How to get started with ERM and how far do you want to go?
  • Learn the technique of risk identification techniques and scoring

  • Managing operational and infrastructure risk

Everyone in management and specific in the finance world needs a firm understanding of risk. This risk management course is developed with the needs of the practitioners in mind and has been designed to cover fully and explain clearly the theory and practice of risk management.

  • Besides the course materials provided on the day, all course resources are available online, including audio and video material from industry experts.  A discussion forum is available allowing delegates to exchange ideas, reflect on learned issues, or raise questions in between training dates.
  • Practice-based learning and critical engagement is a key theme through all our courses allowing delegates to acquire the needed skills and techniques to be applied as soon as they are learned and developed.

Financial risk

  • Analysing and defining external and internal financial risks
  • External: Accounting Standards, Interest Rates Foreign Exchange, Funds and Credit
  • Internal: Internal Control, Fraud, Historical Liabilities, Investments, CAPEX Decisions, Liquidity and Cash Flow

 

Market place risk

Kris Blommaert has over 20 years of international experience in both finance and general management for local and European based organisations and businesses. He has been an associate lecturer at a triple accredited global business school for 10 years at MBA level. He has lectured "Managing Performance and Change" and "Management Perspectives and Practice" in Belgium, Switzerland and France.  


Dr. Johannes Hofinger, MBA, FRM

Dr. Johannes Hofinger is specialized in Risk Management, Basel III, IFRS and regulatory reporting. His professional skills are reinforced by strong academic roots. He lectures for global business schools in corporate finance, managerial accounting and financial reporting. The main roles undertaken are lecturing, consulting and project management.  


Kris De Clercq, MBA

Kris has lectured finance to managers for more than 25 years in Europe and Eastern Europe. His teaching as an associate for a UK based global business school included “Issues in International Finance and Investments”,” Corporate Finance” and “Issues in IFRS”. His industry experience is over 20 years working for asset managers, investment banks, global custodians in the UK, Luxembourg and Belgium. He received a universities award for innovation in finance teaching and learning.
